Since the 1970s PSP (Plescon as it was) and 3M Library Systems have been developing and installing their own stock protection solutions for libraries in the UK. The two companies have cohabited happily in the same market for many years despite seeing periods of fierce competition.
February 13th 2013 is an historic day for both companies as it is the day pen was put to paper to formalise a working partnership between them. It came about after a lot of discussions and work by both parties and brings with it exciting opportunities. It was clear during discussions both PSP Asset Protection and 3M are committed to finding the right solutions for libraries and so the library market can now benefit from the collaborative problem solving, on-going support and personalisation the partnership will bring.
PSP Managing Director Nick Hunt said “At PSP our goal is to offer the very best products available. Having worked alongside and, at times, in direct competition with 3M we are incredibly excited about the opportunities this partnership will create.” He also added “The history of both companies made this decision easy for me. Despite the fact we have been competitors we have always held 3M in high regard, they are a well-established brand and extremely well respected and trusted in the library market. Our mutual respect for each other was the catalyst for starting discussions”.
PSP can now offer their customers the latest 3M technology to make their libraries the most efficient and user friendly they possibly can be. “I now consider our product range to be the strongest in the market” stated PSP’s Business Development Manager Wayne Pallant, “and with the close working relationship we have with 3M, combined with our in house technical team the service we can offer will be second to none as well”.
