Why Newbold College of Higher Education Switched to PSP’s eRLS RFID System
We caught up with Nevena the librarian at the Roy Graham Library at Newbold College of Higher Education in Bracknell, Berkshire to see how our new eRLS RFID stock control system had bedded in following its installation in September last year. Here’s what she had to say about her experience switching from Bibliotheca and what it was like working with the PSP team.
Did you switch or upgrade your library security system from a previous supplier?
Yes, we switched from Bibliotheca to PSP’s eRLS RFID solution in September 2023.
What was the reason for the switch/upgrade to eRLS RFID?
Last year, our electromagnetic security gates failed and our self-service unit was also unreliable, so we needed to replace our security system. We opted for your eRLS RFID security system and we’ve been very pleased with your service.
The customer support team at PSP has been incredibly helpful, providing us with assistance whenever we’ve encountered problems. You even offered to lend us additional RFID readers to assist with the tagging process, which was a kind gesture that we truly appreciated.
How does this security solution make managing your library easier/more efficient?
We are a small team and the self-service kiosk is extremely helpful for us. It allows users to check in, check out and renew materials themselves so we have more time to spend on other library tasks.
“The customer support team at PSP has been incredibly helpful, providing us with assistance whenever we’ve encountered problems. We are a small team so the self-service kiosk has been extremely helpful. We’re also impressed by the sleek look of the security panels – they’ve made the library foyer far more welcoming and attractive.”
Nevena Borcsok, Newbold College of Higher Education
Do you have a favourite feature or something in particular that makes your life easier?
We were particularly impressed by the sleek look of the security panel and antenna. Also, the library foyer looks far more welcoming and attractive as the discreet security panels are not as obvious to our users as security gates.
Have you had any feedback from library users?
On the whole, it’s been very positive but some users did experience a few teething glitches, such as certain books not being recognised by the security panel or the panel beeping even though the books were checked out correctly.
How did you find working with the PSP team?
I have found the PSP team to be extremely cooperative and pleasant to collaborate with.
Would you recommend eRLS RFID and PSP to other library teams?
Yes, gladly. Thank you for your support!
