A fixed-price, standardised eRLS system that brings stock control and a visible security deterrent to your school library — without the cost of a full installation.
The eRLS RFID Starter Kit is designed for secondary schools that want to bring their library stock under control and add a visible security deterrent — without the cost of a full RFID installation.
This is a fixed-price, standardised package built for schools with a tight library or ICT budget. You get professional, modern RFID technology from PSP — the same system used in secondary schools, colleges, universities and NHS libraries across the UK and Europe — at a price a school budget can actually justify.
Both kits include everything you need to get up and running. The only difference is the number of labels.
The 2,500 kit costs just £140 more than the 1,000 kit, and the 5,000 kit costs just £375 more — a modest step up for significantly more coverage. Most schools choose the 2,500 kit to protect their most valuable and vulnerable stock from day one. Larger libraries with substantial collections often find the 5,000 kit the right fit. The eRLS Security Panel in all three kits secures one access point or doorway up to 2.5 metres wide, suitable for most secondary school library entrances.
Schools confirming an eRLS Starter Kit by 30 September 2026 receive:
Every component in the Starter Kit is part of PSP's professional eRLS range — the same technology installed in secondary schools, colleges and universities across the UK.
A wall or ceiling-mounted RFID security panel, fitted at your main library entrance and configured to cover an access point up to 2.5 metres wide. As standard, it bleeps and flashes when an un-issued item passes through — a clear, visible and audible deterrent that is simple to operate and requires no additional software configuration.
A USB desktop reader for your library workstation. Your staff can issue and return items quickly — scanning a stack of books in one pass. No specialist training required; the eRLS Staff software is included and configured during installation.
High-quality UHF RFID labels that adhere inside book covers. Each label holds a unique identifier linked to your library record — the same label standard used in retail and logistics worldwide.
To keep the price under £4,000, PSP carries out the site survey remotely using our Site Readiness Checklist. A qualified PSP engineer then completes the installation in a single visit. All hardware is covered by a 12-month warranty from go-live.
Schools that want smarter security features can add ID Guard at any time.
The eRLS ID Guard upgrade enables ID Guard and ID Trap on your security panel. This reduces nuisance alarms, identifies the specific item triggering an alert, and provides richer event data for your records — useful for schools where false alarms are a concern or where detailed stock loss tracking is needed.
| Option | Price (ex VAT) | When |
|---|---|---|
| Upfront (one-off) | £75 | At order stage, or within 3 months of go-live |

After the 12-month warranty, most Starter Kit schools choose PlatinumTT to keep their system running without unpredictable costs.
Please note: hardware parts, if needed, are charged separately. PlatinumTT covers all labour and travel costs.
A clear view of the total cost of ownership over five years, so you can plan and present the budget case with confidence.
