Why You Chose Infiniti LMS

My previous LMS had got to the point where it was getting more and more expensive, but didn’t provide me with any extra functionality. It would regularly just not work as it should. Having had demonstrations of several alternatives, Infiniti was chosen for three reasons:

1) It did everything I needed it to in an intuitive way;
2) The price point was right;
3) Straight away, Nick and the team were easy to work with, and I never felt pressured to make a decision.

Impact on Day-to-Day Library Work

On a day to day basis, Infiniti has helped streamline a number of processes. The import function is used to import Marc records for new stock, which makes cataloguing swift. It is easy to set up the system to automatically send overdue emails to students (I could never get our previous system to work). We also have it set to send nearly due emails, which has helped reduce the amount of overdue books. We have also been able to connect Infiniti with our school’s MIS, so new students and staff are automatically imported into the system, saving me hours, as I no longer have to manually import new cohorts in September or individually add students who start mid-term.

Impact on Students and Staff

Infiniti provides our students with a reliable OPAC, which, with the help of single sign-on (SSO), they can access from anywhere. It also links seamlessly to our eBook provider, giving students easier access. Once they have been shown how to use the OPAC, they tend to be more self-sufficient with finding books. As we now have an icon for Infiniti on staff laptops, they are also checking the catalogue from their classrooms before a visit to the library.

Favourite Features

My favourite feature is the fact that you don’t need any extra software or an app to access Infiniti. You just need an internet connection and the web address. After my previous LMS, the reliability of Infiniti is also a massive plus point. I think I have only had one incident where it didn’t work when I logged on for the day.

Advice to Other School Libraries

If you are thinking about switching your current library management system to Infiniti, just do it. You will not regret it.
