How PSP worked with the Hywel Dda UHB library team to design a bespoke stock control solution
PSP Asset Protection has worked with library management teams across the NHS for many years, designing, supplying, installing and supporting bespoke library solutions for NHS Knowledge & Library Services. Gaynor Thomas, the Librarian at NHS Wales’ Hywel Dda University Health Board in Carmarthen, has been using our eRLS UHF RFID stock control system for just over a year across 3 separate NHS library sites, some of which have access restrictions, such as narrow entryways, so security gates were not a viable option.
Bespoke RFID library security & self-service solutions
Our RFID security panels were not only a better option from a space-saving perspective, but they also turned out to be a very cost-effective solution as 2 additional antennas could effectively be run from the master panel to cover all 3 libraries.
One of the biggest advantages gained by working with PSP was our knowledge and experience of working within the NHS procurement process, which, as Gaynor freely admits, “isn’t the easiest to navigate”. It was great to hear that we were recommended to Gaynor and the Hywel Dda UHB library team by other NHS libraries whom we’ve worked with in the past, including various departments within NHS Wales.
Despite a brief project hiatus while we waited out the storm of uncertainty created by the Covid-19 pandemic and resulting lockdowns, we were able to get everything back on track and the installation underway. At PSP, we pride ourselves on offering a personal, friendly service with fast response times, so whatever challenges or difficulties we might encounter along the way (including global pandemics!), we’ll be right there with you every step of the way.
We’re looking forward to working with Gaynor and her NHS library management team on an upcoming stock check where we’ll be only too happy to supply our time-saving library stocktaking services!
