Sara’s 100-mile Walking Challenge for Breast Cancer Now!

This month, which just so happens to be Breast Cancer Awareness Month (focusing on raising awareness around secondary breast cancer), I have taken on the challenge of walking 100 miles to raise money for Breast Cancer Now whose vision is that by 2050, everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live – and be supported to live well.

Joining me on this rather daunting adventure is my intrepid Jackapoo Izzy! Our goal is to cover the 100 miles in 4-to-5-mile daily chunks throughout October. We started with a 4-mile training walk which I was very pleased with, but Izzy felt she could have pushed on further. In fact, she probably could have done the entire 100 miles in one go without too much trouble!

So far, we’ve been pretty lucky with the weather which has made our walks a pleasure, however, with Storm Babet now upon us, I suspect our remaining treks will be somewhat wetter and more windswept!

I have been really lucky so far in my life to not have been affected directly by breast cancer but that doesn’t mean I won’t be in the future. So doing my bit now is just a little something to help the world-class research carried out by Breast Cancer Now while supporting people going through treatment and those who might be affected by breast cancer in the future.

If you would like to sponsor me, you can do so via my Just Giving page here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/sara-rawe.

Every little helps in the winnable fight against breast cancer so even a small donation would be very much appreciated.

By the way, tomorrow (Friday 20th October) is ‘Wear It Pink’ day so I would encourage you to wear pink and raise money for Breast Cancer Now’s life-changing breast cancer research and support. At work, at school or at home, we’d love to see some pics of you in your finest pink threads so please feel free to share them with us on Twitter or LinkedIn. Thank you!
