Children’s Book Week 2024 Competition!

As all you school librarians will know, next Monday (6th May) marks the start of Children’s Book Week 2024! Or should I say, Part 1 of CBW as a second one will take place later in the year, from 4th – 10th November. You can’t have too much of a good thing if you ask me!

Ok, so Children’s Book Week is more of a US thing, and technically, there are no set dates for Children’s Book Week in the UK, but any excuse to celebrate the power of books and reading for pleasure is just fine by us.

You may remember that last year the PSP team all racked our brains, way back to the foggy mists of time AKA our childhoods, to pick the children’s books that stand out vividly in our memories. So what are we doing to celebrate CBW this year?

Starting today and running through to the end of Children’s Book Week: Part I (23:59 on Sunday 12th May, to be precise), we’re running a competition on our X (Twitter) and LinkedIn channels where you can enter a prize draw to win a £25 independent bookshop voucher from Bookshop.org.

Our pinned posts should tell you all you need to know, but the rules are very simple…

  1. Follow us if you don’t already
  2. Like the pinned competition post
  3. Comment on the post telling us your favourite children’s book (the one you most remember reading as a kid and, if you feel like it, what you liked most about it)
  4. Repost or share the pinned post to your feed for a bonus entry
  5. For another bonus entry, tag someone in your comment (if it’s a librarian or library account even better!)
  6. And because we’re feeling generous, click here to sign up to our mailing list and we’ll award you with yet another bonus entry!

And that’s it. We’ll be drawing the winner at random after the competition closes so you can expect to be notified shortly thereafter. Good luck!

Enjoy Children’s Book Week and if you need some inspiration for things to do and ways to celebrate, we’d encourage you to visit the booktrust.org.uk website and the Every Child a Reader website to learn more about CBW, which is now in its 105th year!
