We are pleased to announce that PSP Asset Protection has just achieved Cyber Essentials certification. We were assessed by CyberSmart, IASME and the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and successfully met the Cyber Essentials implementation profile on 19th April 2024, meaning our ICT defences are classed as satisfactory against a commodity-based cyber attack for 12 months.
It was particularly important for us to achieve Cyber Essentials certification as government suppliers are expected to meet this criteria in order to bid for contracts involving the handling of sensitive data and personal information. We also wanted to ensure the ICT systems that support our market-leading library solutions, including eRLS RFID security and stock control, self-service and our best-in-class Infiniti school library management system and virtual learning add-on LibPaths, would be adequately protected against potential bad actors.
Our work with a wide range of NHS hospitals, foundation trusts and other healthcare providers as well as schools and colleges all over the UK meant becoming Cyber Essentials certified and demonstrating our commitment to cyber security to our customers was indeed essential!

Why is Cyber Essentials Certification Essential?
Cyber security is something the PSP management team takes very seriously so it’s good to know our organisation is protected against the most common cyber threats. A government-backed scheme, Cyber Essentials certification helps to ensure businesses (of any size, in any sector) are prepared for cyber attacks – from the very basic, often performed by relatively unskilled individuals, to more sophisticated and malicious “hacks” or data breaches.
It’s important for companies to guard against low-level, nuisance threats as vulnerability to basic attacks can make you a target for more advanced cyber criminals who can wreak havoc on your ICT systems and business operations as a whole.
How We Were Assessed
In passing the Cyber Essentials assessment, we demonstrated that we have sufficient technical controls in place to protect our ICT systems against a wide variety of online security threats and prevent the most common attacks.
As previously mentioned, certification gives peace of mind to organisations as cyber attackers often look for “soft targets” that do not have the Cyber Essentials technical controls in place and are therefore defenceless against even the most basic of threats.
